National Congress of American Indians Renewed Support

The following PDF details renewed support from the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) regarding the federal recognition process. The EPTN recently submitted a resolution of support to the NCAI for vote at their annual conference in late October. The resolution, which was unanimously approved, describes the NCAI’s support that the all tribes receive a fair, equal and timely opportunity to apply for federal recognition under reformed federal regulations.The NCAI has also expressed opposition to the third party veto that would require the EPTN to gain consent from the state and nearly 30 towns in order to reapply for federal recognition.
