Medicine Bag Workshop

Native Members and Friends – if you like Native crafts, consider attending the Medicine Bag workshop at the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation Community Center Tribal Lounge on January 22nd, 2015 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Participants must be Natives aged 18+ and the deadline for registration and payment of the $15 kit is January 4th. Seats are limited! Please note that the workshop and kits are always free to consumers of the MPTN-TVRP Program.

Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation Emergency Food Pantry
All donations should be sealed with a sell by or use by date and labeled with the ingredients.
The Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation will provide emergency food to eligible members on
the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 12:00 to 2:00 at the Longhouse:
391 Norwich Westerly  Road,
 North Stonington, CT
Please use the entrance at the rear of the building.

Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation Pow Wow

The Annual Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation Pow Wow will be held on Wright Rd in North Stonington, CT on Sunday, July 26th with grand entry at noon and potluck lunch afterward. An annual meeting and fundraiser will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 10:30 AM – please bring a lawn chair! For more information, call Councilor La’Tasha Maddox at (860) 961-1384.

Volunteers Needed for NAACP Juneteenth Celebration

Volunteers needed! The Council is looking for tribal members who can represent the EPTN at the Annual NAACP Juneteenth Celebration this Saturday, June 20th, 2015 at Howard T. Brown Memorial Park in Norwich, CT. Volunteers will assist in grilling and selling burgers and hot dogs at the event in one to two hour shifts, or more if desired. The event will run from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. If interested please contact Chairman Dennis Jenkins at (860) 608-7911

Members – Please join us for 2015 EPTN /UMass Archaeological Field School Orientation and potluck dinner on Tuesday June 30th, 2015 at the Longhouse from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Please bring a dish!

Pequot Day 2015

Members – Pequot Day 2015 is on Saturday, June 6th at the Mashantucket Fairgrounds starting with the 5:00 AM 1st Light Ceremony followed by a continental breakfast. The event will include: arts and crafts, swimming, a cook-off, a potluck dinner, archery and more! Tribal Assistance

Dear Tribal Members,

Once again we are requesting that you help out our tribe with a monetary donation to assist us with tribal operations at the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation Longhouse. Presently, we have monthly expenses of approximately $2,500 for condo and postal fees, document storage, computer, fax, phone, security, and utilities.

As you know the Longhouse serves as our meeting place where we conduct business, tribal programs, and social events. We are looking into economic development opportunities to support the Longhouse and our tribe. We greatly appreciate your kind assistance.

EPTN Food Pantry Part-Time Assistant Position

The Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation (EPTN) is seeking applicants for a part-time assistant for the EPTN Food Pantry. This position is funded by the Community Services Block Grant for Tribes, Administration for Children and Families, US Department of Health and Human Services. The Assistant will work (10) hours per week at the EPTN Longhouse for (52) weeks at the rate of $12 per hour.

The EPTN Food Pantry Assistant’s duties include:
Confidentially screening registrations for EPTN membership and income eligibility.
Organizing the Food Pantry for weekly distribution according to best practices of the Connecticut Food Bank and the United Way/Labor Food Center allowing client choice of limited items from the basic food groups.
Organizing the best quality food for distribution
Soliciting and picking up nutritious donations from the community.
Recruiting at least (3) dedicated volunteers to assist in picking up and distributing food once a week from the Food Pantry.
Maintaining a well organized and clean Food Pantry.
Purchasing supplemental food from the local grocery markets.
Providing a weekly report to EPTN Council of the number of Food Pantry distributions, volunteers, food donations and purchases.
Other duties as assigned by the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation Council to assist in Food Pantry operations.
